Growing up scarves were one of my favorite accessories to buy and collect. I loved how a simple scarf could add so much to an outfit. They often times were very inexpensive, and there are so many ways to tie them! Read on to see 5 different ways I tied this square scarf.

1. Classic Neck Knot
A classic way to wear a square scarf is in a knot around your neck. Just fold the scarf in half corner to corner making a triangle. Then taking the smaller point of the triangle fold the fabric onto itself over and over again in 1-2 inch sections until all that’s left is one long 1-2 inch strip of fabric. Next tie the fabric strip around your neck knotting it twice. The knot can either be placed in the center of your neck or worn to the side like I did here.
2. Tie It Around The Handle Of A Purse
Another way to wear a scarf is by tying it around a purse. Just fold the scarf into a long strip like before, but this time instead of tying it around your neck tie it around the strap of your purse instead. You can do this to any purse you own as long as it has a strap of some kind. The only purses that wouldn’t work are clutches. I like to tie my scarf in a knot and leave one end slightly longer than the other. If your scarf is long enough you could also try tying it in a bow.
3. Tie It In Your Hair
You can also wear a scarf in your hair! Start by folding the scarf the same way as before until it’s a long skinny piece of fabric. Next, tie it in a knot over your pony tail holder and let the ends hang free. This also looks cute with a high pony too.

4. Wrap It Around The Handle Of A Purse
Recently I’ve been noticing a trend of wrapping scarves around the handle of a purses. I decided to give it a try and it really was a lot simpler than I had expected. Just fold your square scarf into a skinny long strip of fabric like before. Next, starting at one of the of the purse tie a knot around the base of the handle. Then slowly wrap the scarf around the handle until you get to the other end. Lastly, secure the scarf with another knot at the base of the other end of the handle. This is a great way to add a pop of color to your outfit or to bring in another texture for a unique accessory.
5. Bandana Bib
This is probably one of the simplest ways to tie a scarf. Just fold your square scarf in half to make a triangle. Next center the point on your neck and tie the two longer ends in a knot behind your neck. This look is great to wear over v-neck tops or button front blouses, or to add a pop of color to a basic white tee. Wearing your scarf as a bib also comes in handy if you plan to wear your scarf as a mask. It’s easy to pull up over your nose before going into a store.
Other ways to wear a square scarf include as a belt. Just tie it around one or thread it through all of your belt loops. Tie it around your wrist like a bracelet, or tie it at the base of your head and wear it like a headband.
