I love high waisted pieces so it should come as no surprise how much I love the paper bag waist trend! I’ve been rocking my paper bag skirt since 2016 (last seen here), and I’m so excited they’ve finally risen in popularity. Read on to get my tips on how to style this flattering trend plus where to buy them.

Below I’ve featured several paper bag shorts, skirts, and pants to shop, plus 4 tips on how to style them.
1. Tuck Your Shirt In!
It probably goes without saying, but paper bag waists look best when they can be seen. If your shirt is left untucked the paper bag waist will add extra bulk under your tops. And nobody wants that! If you prefer to leave your tops untucked I would recommend at least tucking the front in.
2. Choose Form Fitting Tops, Or Ones With Less Bulk Than The Skirt
Paper bag waists look great paired with just about anything! If you prefer not to add any extra bulk try paring paper bag waists with form fitting tops. Some great options are tank tops (like I’m wearing here), t-shirts, sweaters, blouses, bodysuits, and even crop tops.
3. Add In A Belt
To better show off the fun paper bag waistline make sure and add in a belt. Most pieces already come with a belt included like my skirt here. For other fun styling option try swapping out the belt it came with for one you already own. Some of my favorites include a leather belt, braided belt, rope belt, or even a belt bag.
4. Paper Bag Skirts Can Easily Be Dressed Up Or Down
A paper bag skirt can easily be dressed down when paired with a t-shirt, tank top, or crop top. For shoes try wearing sandals or sneakers and add in a crossbody purse or belt bag to complete the look.
This skirt can also be dressed up for work, church, or a date night. Try pairing it with a blouse, blazer, or sweater. For shoes a great pair of pumps or sandals and try carrying a clutch or satchel.
If You’re Still Unsure About Wearing A Paper Bag Waist Here Are A Few Reasons To Give Them A Try:
They give off the appearance of a smaller waist.
The pleated detail adds interest to even the most basic of outfits.
They’re easy to dress up or down so you’ll get lots of wear out of them.
There extremely comfortable!
I can’t wait to hear if you’ll be trying the paper bag waist trend this season.
