Now that fall’s officially here, I’ve been doing all the fall things! Decorating our new home with fall decor, visiting the pumpkin patch, and going apple picking. While fall activities are fun, no matter how warm the weather might still be, I love wearing a fall appropriate outfit to mark the occasion. Today I wanted to share my warm weather apple picking outfit incase you’re wanting to go, but struggle with what to wear since the weather is still warm.

Cotton Shirt Dress
Dresses are so comfortable to wear even on the hottest of days! They’re light and breezy especially cotton or linen ones. This cotton shirt dress I’m wearing works great worn alone, worn as a swimsuit cover-up, or layered with other pieces like this sweater vest. It’s such a versatile piece!
Other warm weather dresses to choose from include t-shirt dresses, sleeveless dresses, or my favorite right now the shirt dress. Several of these dresses below come in multiple colors incase you prefer a dress other than white.
Sweater Vest
Sweater vests are one of the HOTTEST trends for fall right now so I had to incorporate one into my apple picking outfit! Try layering a sweater vest over a sleeveless dress, t-shirt dress, or shirt dress like I did here.
I sized up to a medium (normally I’m a size small) for an oversized look. Plus, to give my sweater vest even more volume I wore a belt around my waist and tucked the ends of the vest underneath the belt.
If the thought of wearing a sweater vest over a dress is not your style, try wearing a sweater vest with pair of biker shorts or leggings. The sweater vest can be worn alone as a top or layered over a t-shirt.
Incorporating a sweater vest into your look can instantly transform any summer outfit into a fall appropriate one! Here are just a few of my favorites below that come in multiple colors.
Ankle Boots
Ankle boots are great for when you want to switch up your footwear for fall, but it’s still too hot for knee high boots. If ankle boots aren’t your style, try wearing a pair of dark colored sneakers or slip-ons instead. Last time I went apple picking, I made the mistake of wearing my white Converse sneakers. By the time I went home they were covered in mud splatters. Thankfully, they washed out just fine!
Some popular ankle boots for fall this year include the Chelsea boot and the western style boot (I have these western boots as seen here on my Instagram).
Crossbody Purse
If you need to carry a purse with you, then definitely go for a crossbody bag! That way you can keep your hands free for apple picking and photo taking. This vintage Dooney & Bourke bag I’ve had for years is one of my favorites to carry for fall. The cream and brown colors in this bag seem to match almost all of my fall pieces.
