For today’s quick 10-15 minuet “Wardrobe Wednesday” challenge I want to help you organize your closet!
It’s been two years since I last organized my closet. If you saw it back then (see blog post here) then you know my before here really isn’t that bad. Today I want to share my steps on how to organize a closet in 10-15 minuets.
Step 1 Decide What Space You’re Going To Organize
If you have only 10-15 minuets choose one section of your closet to organize. For example all your jeans, or choose just one drawer in your dresser. It’s okay to start small! Just set a timer for 10-15 minuets and do what you can. If you have an hour or two to spare you can organize your whole closet like I did!
Bonus: If you want to complete your whole closet but don’t have enough time to do it all at once set aside 10-15 minuets a day to organize your closet until it’s complete.
Step 2 Take Everything Out
Once you decide what space you are going to organize take everything out so you can see it. As you remove items make 3 piles. Things you want to keep, things you want to get rid of, and things you want to keep but don’t belong there.
Step 3 Clean
Now that everything is removed it’s time to dust, sweep, and/or vacuum your empty space.
Step 4 Put Everything Back
With a freshly cleaned empty space it’s now time to put everything back. Fold each piece nicely and place it back in the drawer or place it neatly on the shelf. Put clothing back on hangers and make sure all your hangers are facing the same way. Also make sure each top/dress/blazer/etc. is buttoned or zipped up before placing it back in your closet so everything looks neat.
Next, put everything away that you came across while organizing that you want to keep but it belongs in another part of your house. I like to wait till the end to put those things way. That way I don’t get distracted going from room to room while I’m in the middle of a project.
Lastly, you should be left with a pile of things you no longer want. Set those items aside and we’ll talk about what to do with them in next weeks “Wardrobe Wednesday” challenge!
