When it comes to hair I prefer to keep it simple. I typically wear my hair down with loose waves or straight typically with a part down the middle.

When bobby pins made an appearance on the runways last fall, I immediately tried it because who doesn’t own lots of bobby pins already? The time it took to place each bobby pin plus keep it from looking too juvenile wasn’t working for me. I gave up on wearing hair accessories, that is until oversized barrettes began appearing on the scene.
What could be easier than pinning back a section of hair with one or two oversized hair clips? I tried pinning this barrette a few different ways, but my favorite is just behind the ear styled with loose waves. Instead of wearing my typical oversized earrings I paired my statement barrette with a pair of tiny bow earrings.
Other ways to try out this trend include stacking two of the same or similar barrettes to one side. For a bolder more symmetrical look try placing the exact same barrette on either side of your part. Lastly, gather all or just the upper section of hair and pin in place with one large barrette.
I’m all about making a statement with accessories. I love statement earrings, stacks of necklaces, and now I’m loving statement barrettes. I would love to hear what you think of this trend. Will you be trying it out?
