Today, I thought it’d be fun to explain my process for deciding what to wear, and hopefully these steps I find so helpful will help you too.
I’ll usually choose my outfits the night before so I don’t have to rush in the morning (or any day I care about how I look). Because I have so many options (most people do) I’ll try and keep it simple by choosing only one thing I really want to wear. Like an accessory (for example a purse or shoes) or a piece of clothing (a top, bottoms, a dress, etc.) and then I’ll build an outfit around that until I’m satisfied with the overall look.
Step 1 I chose to build this look around my new Forever 21 faux leather slides
Step 2 I decided they looked best with ankle length skinny jeans (they also look great with black yoga pants for an athleisure look)
Step 3 I tried on several tops until I found one I liked. I chose this particular top because although it’s navy it’s so dark it complemented my black shoes as well as my blue skinny jeans.
Step 4 Add in/take away accessories until your happy with the overall look. I really really liked the style of this ring handle clutch with my outfit, but the color of the bag just wasn’t right. Since neutrals go with everything I decided I just needed to add in a little more brown and/or gold to my outfit to make it work, so I layered in this gold oversized watch to balance out the clutch.
These steps work like a charm for me but some days it’s easier than others.
